Tuskys secretly sends staff on leave.
The chief editor of this site has received information that Tuskys Supermarket has secretly sent staff on leave.
‘Almost all Artemis staff (contract) have been sent on unpaid leave without signing any leave documents to avoid the information going to the media. They are just told to go for 12 days plus 2 offs then come back”, said a staff member who spoke to kenyanbusinessfeed.com
This comes after the supermarket revealed that it owes suppliers a total of Sh6.2 billion, with the retailer saying it has reached an agreement to pay 40 percent of the amount (Sh2.4 billion) over two years.
The illegal leave has however not touched unionisable staff. This is because of the court order against that in June.
The struggling retail chain plans to send all including management on unpaid leave before end of August.
15 branches have also been earmarked for permanent t closure before end month. These include Kmall, Magic Nairobi, Uthiru, Southfield, OTC etc.
These has already been communicated.
The unionisable staff in the affected branches are being transferred to the branches that will not be closed.
Those mostly targeted for these ‘laying off’ are staff who have stayed in the company for many years.
