Nairobi Acting Governor Ann Kananu Mwenda is set to be grilled by the Directorate of Criminal Investigation officers attached to Kenya Revenue Authority.
The officers will question Kananu on non-remittance of income tax, withholding tax and PAYE.
‘‘This office is investigating a case of failure to remit income tax, withholding tax and PAYE contrary to section 97 of tax procedure act. I have reason to believe that you are either connected with the said offence or have useful information that may assist in investigations.’’ The letter from DCI-KRA unit reads in part.
‘‘In exercise of the powers conferred to me under the provision of section 52(1) of National Police Act of 2011, I do hereby summon you to appear before me on the 27th day of October, 2021 at 10:00am at the CBC building, wing D 6th floor, along Elgon Road Upper Hill,’’ it stated.
‘‘Please NOTE that failure to honor this summon will render you liable to prosecution under section 52(2) of the National Police.’’
Other officers summoned by the same Unit includes Finance CEC Allan Igambi and former Finance Chief Officer at Citryhall Halkano Waqo Diida.
