The Nairobi Metropolitan Services (NMS) has postponed the launch of the Green Park Bus Terminal whose operation was to start Tuesday.
In a statement, NMS said the postponement follows a request for extension by Public Service Vehicles (PSV) operators.
NMS further said the new date for the launch will be communicated in due course.
“NMS wishes to notify the public that the operationalization of the Green Park Bus Terminal that was set to commence on 24th May 2022 has been postponed following a request for a time extension by PSV operators,” NMS said in a tweet.
The operators had faulted the launch of the Kshs 250 million project arguing that the government was launching the project without proper consultations.
The Chairperson of the Matatu Owners Association Simon Kimutai said the government ought to have addressed key issues including where the PSVs will be waiting after they drop off passengers.
This is not the first time for NMS to stop the launch after operators raised similar queries.
The terminus, located at the former Lunar Park, is a drop-off and pick-up point for matatus plying the Ngong and Lang’ata routes, all currently operating from the Nairobi Railways Central station.
