In a bid to preserve the environment, we have adopted several conservation efforts around our hydropower plants. Some of the activities we have done in the Eastern Region, through our KenGen Foundation include Tana Buffer.
This project entailed growing 2,500 tree seedlings that included Mangifera indica, Neem, T. brownie, and Cassia same species.
Kamburu Buffer. This Project entailed growing 25,600 sisal bulbils for soil stabilization.
Kindaruma Buffer. This project entailed planting 3,500 mango trees buffer for environmental conservation, buffer protection. The project has been of economic value to communities and offered food security.
Kindaruma Buffer Phase (II) Project. This project entailed planting and maintaining 6,000 mango trees at Kindaruma Buffer. The projected has been of economic value to communities and offered food security.
Kindaruma Buffer Phase IV. Project entailed planting and maintaining 8,000 mango trees for soil conservation and also acting as a protective buffer. The project has been of economic value to communities and offered food security.
Kindaruma (V) Boundary Buffer Project. This project entails the growing of 35,000 sisal bulbils. The projected has been of economic value to communities in the area.
