Nairobi residents are now questioning why the state is deploying more military officers to the county instead of focusing on service delivery.
The residents, drawn from the 85 wards also want officers behind vandalisation of sanitisation booths erected by governer Mike Sonko to face the full wrath of the law.
While speaking exclusively to Kenyan Business Feed, the residents led by Embakasi South representative to the National Youth Council Tom Musili said that the manner in which things are unfolding in the city is worrying.
” We are seing military men now being sent to the county and we want to know what exactly will be their role,” Musili said.
The residents further raised concerns that the newly created Nairobi Metropolitan Service has already been held hostage by state cartels who are going to make it a cashcow.
They want devolution CS Eugine Wamalwa and the Public Service Commission to publish and gazzete the functions of all officers deployed to the agency.
According to them, the transfered functions will still be funded by the county government headed by Govenor Mike Sonko, meaning that any further appointments must be subject to the Public Service Board and the County Public Service Board as captured in the Deed of Transfer of functions signed.
” We should not operate as if the county was disbanded, we still have a governor whom we want the state to respect and accord him the support he needs to finish his tenure,” Musili added.
They also condemed the demolition of residential houses in Kariobangi North and the subsequent arrest of area MCA who was distributing food to affected families.
