Qatar seeks to open up its markets to Kenyan exporters

Qatar is seeking to open up its markets to Kenyan exporters mainly on the agriculture sector.

Speaking at an Iftar dinner attended by members of the diplomatic corps, senior government officials, political and religious leaders Qatar Ambassador to Kenya, Jabor Bin Ali Al-Dosari, said his country is keen to tap into the rich Kenyan agricultural sector by promoting bilateral trade.

Two years ago Kenya and Qatar signed agreements of cooperation on Tourism, Education and Culture that create new opportunities for investors in the two countries.

The Qatari ambassador says is his country is keen on ensuring that the agreements are fully operational for the mutual benefit of the two nations.

The envoy also said his government supports Kenya on the ongoing education reforms to ensure it achieves its development agenda.

He said his government will redouble efforts to sponsor Kenyan students from all from 47 counties to study in the Arab world.

Leaders who attended the dinner challenged the ambassador to ensure his country protects Kenyans domestic workers seeking opportunities there.
