Property owners in Nairobi City County have until Friday 18th June 2021 to inspect the new Nairobi City County draft on valuation roll.
This new valuation roll aims at easing the cost of doing business in the City as a result of digitization of the process and therefore improve service delivery to Nairobi residents.
According to Deputy Governor and acting Governor, Nairobi City County, Ann Kananu, It will also enhance revenue collection in the county due to increased rateable properties bracket.
“Once the new draft Valuation Roll is implemented property owners are expected to pay the new rate at a rate struck of less that 0.15% of the new Unimproved Site Value,” said Kananu
The draft Valuation Roll was presented before the Nairobi City County Assembly on 20th May 2021 and has been available for inspection at the Main City since 21st May 2021.
“Those with objections to the new Draft should channel recommendations or comments to the office of the County Secretary on or before 18th June 2021. In order to adhere to Covid 19 protocols, members of the public are encouraged to do inspection and objections via htt://valuation.nairobi.go.ke or use USSD code *235#. Queries should be channeled through [email protected] ” added Acting Nairobi County Secretary, Dr. Jairus Musumba.Loading...
A process to develop a fresh valuation roll was initiated in 2015 and completed in 2019. This process entailed data collection ,analysis and compilation and finally establishing a fully automated Geographic Information System(GIS).The GIS platform once implemented will transit the business of property in Nairobi from manual to digital system.
Currently property rates account for about 25% of revenue collected in Nairobi.
A valuation roll is a public legal document that consists of property information of all rateable properties within the boundaries of a rating authority produced according to legislation.
This exercise is currently taking place in all the 17 sub counties of Nairobi City.
