The Construction of 27.1km expressway project which will run from Mlolongo off Mombasa Road to James Gichuru Road in Nairobi’s Lavington area has received a setback.
The project, was to be completed in December 2022, which is being financed by a Public Private Partnership agreement.
But now it seems the project will likely delay after new details emerged after the environmentalists moved to National Environment Tribunal to oppose it for flouting sustainable development.
A decision that is going to make the project to delay a project that is to pass through Kenya’s congested capital Nairobi which has been delayed for nearly a decade but the construction had started taking shape.
The project is a key development project as it will reduce traffic jam in the city. The route will have two traffic lanes in either direction and features 10 interchanges with a considerable portion of the expressway being elevated.
