A targeted software refresh introducing improved navigation tools and restored transaction shortcuts has marked the latest effort to stabilise My OneApp, following early user experience gaps that emerged after its initial rollout on Google Play Store.

Safaricom has released version 5.1.5 of My OneApp, positioning the update as part of an ongoing refinement cycle aimed at improving usability, system responsiveness and access to core financial services within its unified digital platform.
The update restores the Favourites tab within the transactions section, allowing users to save and retrieve frequently used contacts and services, while enhancements to the Frequents section aim to streamline access to commonly used features across the application.
The adjustments come as Safaricom works to align the Super App experience with its original design objective of integrating M-Pesa, MySafaricom and Bonga into a single interface.
The launch phase of My OneApp, unveiled at the Decode 4.0 developer summit in Nairobi, drew attention after users reported technical challenges that affected login access, transaction flows and general application stability.
Some users experienced frozen transfers, unexpected session logouts and delays in loading financial mini-app services, creating friction in early adoption of the platform.
Reports from users outside Kenya pointed to additional access constraints tied to authentication requirements linked to Safaricom SIM usage and mobile data connectivity.
A segment of users on international networks indicated that reliance on active Safaricom mobile data for login created barriers for those relying on Wi-Fi connections or roaming arrangements.
This aspect drew attention from diaspora customers who rely heavily on mobile financial services while abroad, particularly for remittances and account access.
Safaricom issued a public statement acknowledging the early-stage disruptions and extended an apology to affected users, with particular reference to roaming customers experiencing access limitations.
The company indicated that technical teams had been engaged in continuous system adjustments aimed at restoring full functionality across services embedded within the Super App ecosystem.
“This is part of a rapid improvement cycle designed to enhance stability and deliver a more consistent user experience across all services,” Safaricom said in earlier communication following the rollout challenges.
Version 5.1.5 signals the first structured update following the initial deployment phase, reflecting a shift toward incremental improvements rather than a single large-scale overhaul of the platform.
The update path suggests a focus on resolving usability issues while maintaining the broader integration strategy underpinning the Super App model.
The My OneApp platform was designed to consolidate multiple Safaricom digital services into one interface, reducing fragmentation between payments, airtime management and loyalty rewards systems.
Its development aligns with Safaricom’s broader digital strategy centred on ecosystem integration, data-driven personalisation and expanded financial service access through mobile channels.
Safaricom has indicated that additional updates will follow as it continues to refine system performance, with future releases expected to target transaction speed, authentication stability and cross-service interoperability within the application.
The iterative approach reflects a phased deployment strategy aimed at balancing rapid innovation with system reliability across a large and active user base.
