TV 47 is now Kenya’s fastest-growing free-to-air station in Kenya according to Multichoice Kenya MD Nancy Matimu.
The MD was speaking during the launch of GOtv Supa package, where she also announced that TV 47 was now available on GOtv channel 102.
“TV 47 is Kenya’s fastest growing Free-to-Air station and we are happy to onboard them to GOtv today. Gotv customers across all our five packages now have an increased slate of local content from this highly performing channel,” she said.
TV47 CEO Abubakar Abdullahi, welcomed the move saying it would open up the station to a wide audience.
“Our entry into GOtv will enhance our reach. It also comes with a variety of new exciting programmes both entertaining and educational,” he said.
Some of the new shows include The Bride of Judas; A Legendary Love and Darkness of The Soul, telenovelas that are guaranteed to leave viewers on the edge of their seats.
“We are also approaching the electioneering period and TV47 will be the go-to station for all political commentary, interviews, profiles and breaking news,” the CEO added.
TV47 broadcasts in both Kiswahili and English and carries content which also includes shows on tertiary education, a first for a television station in Kenya. Its onboarding to the GOtv family coincides with the launch of a brand new GOtv Supa package.
Earlier this year, TV47 scooped multiple awards in the KUZA Broadcasting Awards by the Communications Authority of Kenya.
The station was awarded the Regulator’s Award and was first runners up in the Copyright Award and the Upcoming broadcaster Award.
