The government last monday announced a lockdown, no one is supposed to ove out of or into the Nairobi Metropolitan area, Kilifi, Kwale and Mombasa counties.
“No movement by road, rail or air in and out of Kwale County, Kilifi County, Mombasa County and Nairobi Metropolitan Area Coronavirus infected areas will be allowed effective 6th April,2020 from 7pm”, the government had announced.
However, a staff of Mastermind Tobacco headquarted at Mombasa road spoke to Kenyanbusinessfeed.com alleging the the company has effected the tranfer of sales staff from Nairobi to other areas in total contravention of that order.
“Hi Editor, Mastermind tobacco has issued massive tranfers to it’s sales team…they have been told to report outside Nairobi in contravention of the COVID19 movement restrictions from Nairobi….let authorities know kindly”, she wrote
The lockdown which is now entering its second week is meant to last for 21 days.
Hard to effect
However, a day after the lockdown that caught many people unawares, Kenyans were filmed using foot to cross into and out of the Nairobi Metropolitan Area.
The govoernment had to mount more roadblocks, infiltrate the people using NIS and deploy more undercover police to help curb the menace.
This has shown by talks, videos and photos shared online has failed.
Such acts has made authorities in countries such as South Africa to extend their lockdown for two weeks.

Kenya has 191 cases of coronavirus, 24 people have recovered; 7 died.
Worldwide
The death toll from coronavirus is now past 100,000 with many dyng in the United States of America, Italy and Spain.
Number of critically ill patients stand at 50,000.
As the cases approach 2 million worldwie, over 388,000 have recovered.
