The National Police Service Commission has replaced George KInoti with Massa Hamisi Salim.
Mr Hamisi is taking the role of Directorate of Criminal Investigations – DCI in an acting capacity following the resignation of Kinoti, till a substantive head is appointed in 14 days.
Massa was promoted to take over as the deputy DCI in changes announced in May 2022, following the retirement of Joseph Ashmalla from the service after attaining mandatory age.
The NPSC Thursday advertised the vacancy for the position of Director General of the Directorate of Criminal Investigation.
This comes after the resignation of George Kinoti on Tuesday.
President William Ruto announced that he had received and accepted the resignation of the DCI.
Consequently, President Ruto directed the National Police Service (NPS) to announce a vacancy and advertise the position.
In a statement, the commission chairperson Eliud Kinuthia said interested applicants must be citizens of Kenya, hold a degree from a recognized university, 10 years of experience in management and proven knowledge in criminal investigations and policing.
He further said interested applicants must meet requirements for chapter six of the Constitution of Kenya 2010.
Interested persons have until October 6th to send their applications.
