Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) has opened up viewing of airplanes that are set to be auctioned from 17th to the 22nd of November
KAA says that all the aircrafts that are deemed unairworthy and breaching safety and efficiency of air operations are the ones set to be auctioned.
According to a notice seen by Kenyan Business Feed, All the interested purchasers will be required to pay a deposit of Kshs100,000 per item on auction
In a notice, KAA says the 73 aircrafts owned by various aviation firms will be sold between the 17th and 22nd of November at the JKIA, Wilson, Lokichogio and the Moi International Airport in Mombasa.
“Where the bid price is lower than the deposit price, the bidder will be refunded the difference between the bid price
and the deposit amount on presentation of the receipt. However, where the bid price is higher than the deposit,
the bidder will need to pay not less than 25% of the total value. The Balance must be paid within 24 Hours failure
to which the award will be cancelled and the deposit forfeited and the item sold to the second highest bidder.” reads the statement from KAA.
The owners of the aircafts, KAA says, had been notified to clear outsanding bills and reposition them but failed to do so.
Some of the aircrafts facing the auctioneers hammer includes Somali Airforce, Jetlink, Fly 540, Jubba Airways, Skyward, Astral Aviation, Silverstone among others.
