Online payments firm JamboPay has signed a contract to develop and run automated revenue collection infrastructure for Blantyre City Council (BCC) of Malawi.
Blantyre is Malawi’s second largest city.
The partnership is touted under a Public Private Partnership (PPP).
JamboPay’s parent company is Web Tribe Limited
Under the contract, JamboPay will finance, build and operate revenue collection infrastructure for Blantyre City for ten years. Blantyre officials said this would improve transparency and efficiency in the city’s revenue collection, such as by digitising payments for parking.
Malawi is the fifth country to which JamboPay has expanded, the others being Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and Ghana.
