Heartbreak as comedian Eric Omondi pens emotional goodbye to Italian lover

It was mixed feelings online as comedian Eric Omondi confirmed an anticipated break up with his Italian lover Chantal Grazzioli after four years.

The funnyman took to social media on Wednesday, May 22, with a lengthy goodbye message that largely shocked fans who previously thought the couple was going strong.

In the post seen by TUKO.co.ke, the comedian bid farewell to Chantal even as he insisted the two were still friends despite their separation.

While he did not give a concrete reason for the separation, his post strongly suggested they had to part ways primarily because the Italian beauty was leaving the country for the long haul.

“You changed my life completely. As you move into your new phase in life with or without me, I want to wish you all the best my love. The paths that brought us together are now facing different directions and as you move on in your path, I wish you the best life has to offer,” his post read.

“Chantal and I are okay. We were friends long before we were lovers and our friendship stays for life. And to those young men and women who prefer to take each others’ lives at the end of a relationship, let this be a lesson to you all. You do not own a person and it doesn’t always work out,” the funnyman added.

Keen fans might have noted that Eric, for a better part of 2019, kept his love life private and for a celebrity of his calibre to resort to such was highly suspicious.

The couple had previously been the envy of everyone in their three-year relationship as the comedian had a knack of dishing out couple goals courtesy of exotic gifts he handed the Italian.

Perhaps the most controversial came in the form of a swanky KSh 4 million BMW X6 which was thoroughly criticised as a stunt by cynics.

TUKO.co.ke reached out to the comedian via phone to confirm the break up and while he did not necessarily affirm the two were no longer an item, he made it clear their relationship had been dealt a potentially fatal blow with Chantal’s departure back to her native Italy.

“You know people don’t understand Chantal is Italian and she eventually had to go back to her country. We had a nice three years and we will still try to work things out but for now, she is going back to her home country,” he told this writer on phone.

Whether it is a real break up or a stunt, only time will tell.
