Former Independence Attorney General Charles Mugane Njonjo has died.
President Uhuru Kenyatta announced that Njonjo died Sunday morning at 5 am, at his Muthaiga home in Nairobi.
According to his son in law, Kerry Ngini, the family patriarch died of pneumonia. The disease made his lungs collapse.
Njonjo served as Attorney General of Kenya from 1963 to 1979, and Minister of Constitutional Affairs from 1980 to 1983.
The man who was fondly referred to as “The Duke of Kabeteshire” was cremated at Kariokor on Sunday at 11:00am.
