TECNO and Safaricom have reduced the retail price of the TECNO POVA Curve 2 5G smartphone by KSh11,000 in Kenya.

The handset now sells for KSh44,999, down from KSh55,999, under a promotional offer that runs until October 31, representing roughly a 20 per cent cut.

The device is equipped with an 8,000 mAh battery, 45-watt fast charging, a MediaTek Dimensity 7100 processor and a 7.42 mm thin body.

Customers who bought the phone before the promotion can claim a TECNO POP 20 smartphone with 4 GB memory and 64 GB storage at no extra cost, subject to verification, while those who purchased through Safaricom’s Lipa Mdogo Mdogo instalment plan receive a one-month repayment waiver.

“Kenya has made significant progress in expanding its digital infrastructure, but meaningful adoption also depends on ensuring consumers can access devices capable of taking advantage of that infrastructure,” said Mildred Agoya, head of marketing at TECNO Kenya. “Our partnership with Safaricom is about helping close that gap,” she added.

The Communications Authority of Kenya has highlighted affordable devices, spectrum availability and infrastructure investment as key to widening 5G benefits and is updating its mobile quality-of-service framework to cover both 4G and 5G networks.
