The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has issued a final reminder to motorists to collect their physical vehicle logbooks, warning that all unclaimed documents will be disposed of after 11 December 2026 in line with the Authority's policy.

In a notice issued on 14 July, NTSA said vehicle owners have five months remaining to collect printed logbooks from its offices and Huduma Centres nationwide.

The reminder follows an earlier public notice issued on 11 June 2026, which introduced a six-month collection period for printed logbooks.

Free collection service

NTSA clarified that collecting a logbook is free of charge.

However, vehicle owners must present their previous logbook together with a valid identification document for verification before the new document is released.

Motorists can also confirm whether their logbook is ready for collection through NTSA's online service status portal before visiting a collection centre.

Why the deadline matters

The Authority warned that motorists who fail to collect their logbooks risk facing difficulties when applying for services that require the original vehicle logbook.

Once the six-month period lapses, all uncollected logbooks will be disposed of in accordance with NTSA's records management policy.

The reminder forms part of NTSA's ongoing efforts to streamline vehicle registration records and improve document management as the Authority continues to modernise its services.

Vehicle owners are therefore encouraged to collect their documents before the December deadline to avoid unnecessary inconvenience.
