A test train arrives at Mai Mahiu station in Kenya

The Cabinet has approved a Sh6.9 billion budget for the development of Naivasha Special Economic Zone (NSEZ) and the completion of SGR Phase 2A.

This will see the development of an Inland Container Depot, Railway Marshalling Yard, Logistics Zone and Public Utility Area as well as other core enabling infrastructure to support the development of the Naivasha Special Economic Zone and the impending completion of Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) phase 2A.

Construction of Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) phase 2A project linking Kenya’s capital Nairobi to the resort town of Naivasha has entered the final phase and the one-month test was launched from September, according to the constructor China Communications Construction (CCC) on Tuesday.
