Deputy President William Ruto said the signing of the county participation agreement on Monday has marked the beginning of the implementation of various projects in the coastal counties of Kilifi, Taita Taveta, Kwale and Mombasa.
The agreement signed between the World Bank and the government would see the four coastal counties receive 8.7 billion shillings in the first round of financing.
The funds would be channeled to water projects, to boost water and sanitation services and infrastructure in the four counties from 60% to 80% by 2022.
The DP said under the agreement, counties would identify priority projects under the county integrated development plan (CIDP).
