African-owned mobile battle-royale game Rise of Fearless has obtained US$1 million in financing from Epic Edges Capital of Mauritius.

The capital, provided via a Simple Agreement for Future Equity, will support the next growth phase covering recruitment, technology, infrastructure, marketing and community initiatives.

Founder Kanessa Muluneh said the investment is crucial for the bootstrapped studio and for advancing the broader African gaming ecosystem.

The game, launched in 2025 and available on Apple App Store and Google Play, has recorded more than 15,000 downloads, with its largest player bases in Nigeria, Ethiopia and South Africa.

Epic Edges Group founder Remco Coerman highlighted the opportunity for African creators to build globally relevant gaming experiences.

To accelerate development, Rise of Fearless has engaged a coalition of industry veterans: Miniboss Solutions will act as an embedded publishing partner under managing partners Adam Krause and TJ Consunji; IDG Intelligence, led by Yoshio Osaki, will supply market research and strategic advice; Trick Question Studios, headed by TQ Jefferson, will steer franchise definition and creative direction; and Spectra Entertainment will provide full-stack art and technical art services.

The company notes that Africa hosts over 400 million gamers and that mobile gaming revenue reached US$1.98 billion in 2026.
