Communications Authority of Kenya acting director-general, Mercy Wanjau, is making her presence felt at the telecommunications regulator.

Hardly a month into office, Wanjau has reshuffled her senior management team in what she says are efforts to enhance service delivery and enable the authority to realise its vision of a digitally transformed nation.

‘‘The authority is committed to effectively discharge its mandate to ensure that the ICT sector contributes to the country’s socio-economic growth. In order to achieve this, one of our Strategic Plan (2018-2023) objectives is to strengthen the institutional capacity and stimulate a high performance culture,’’ she said.

In the new order, Christopher Kemei, currently the director of licensing, compliance and standards has been moved to the universal service fund (USF) replacing Maxwell Mosoti who will now act in the docket of competition, tariffs and market analysis.

Mosoti replaces Matano Ndaro, who has been taken to the licensing, compliance and standards docket.

In other changes, Kipng’etich Rotich, currently assistant director of human resource management, has been redeployed to USF as assistant director, project monitoring and evaluation, with Beatrice Bonga, being appointed acting assistant director of human resource management.

Emma Otieno will be in charge of fund mobilisation and management, while Priscah Motogwa becomes manager in charge of administration in an acting capacity.

“The staff who have been redeployed have a vast wealth of experience. The authority strongly believes these changes will contribute towards the overall institutional performance and delivery of the government’s Big Four agenda for the benefit of the citizens of Kenya,” said Wanjau.
