NCBA Bank held a Meet, Mingle & Money Talks session in Nanyuki, drawing more than 100 emerging affluent and high-net-worth customers together with financial specialists.

The event formed part of the bank’s plan to widen access to its NCBA Wealth Solutions, which provide investment planning, insurance, property finance, income replacement and portfolio diversification for long-term wealth creation and preservation.

Organisers said the discussion centred on the changing financial needs of clients as they shift from earning and accumulating wealth to investing, protecting assets and planning for future generations.

Dennis Njau, NCBA Group Director for Retail Banking, said banking relationships should go beyond transactions as customers’ needs become more complex. He added, “Financial success is not simply about earning a good income.”

Njau explained that as incomes, businesses and investments grow, clients must consider how to invest what they have built, protect it against unexpected events and eventually pass it on to the next generation.

Participants examined the role of individual goals, risk appetite and investment timelines, and explored options such as structured portfolio advisory, property finance, income-generating assets and diversification.

Njau noted that a balanced wealth strategy should address both present liquidity and longer-term objectives, stating, “Liquidity gives customers access to funds for immediate needs, while income-generating assets can provide a steady flow of income and long-term investments can create value over time.”

The dialogue also highlighted wealth preservation, risk management and the importance of shielding accumulated assets from unforeseen setbacks.

Succession and estate planning were key topics, with Njau urging early conversations and quoting, “It is never too early to start thinking about how your assets will be managed, protected and transferred.”

The Nanyuki engagement reflects NCBA’s broader effort to bring advisory-led conversations closer to customers across Kenya, supported by a branch network that now exceeds 100 branches.

By moving the Meet, Mingle & Money Talks series beyond Nairobi, the bank aims to better understand regional aspirations and provide wealth-management expertise nearer to clients’ homes.

Njau said the series embodies the bank’s purpose of “Banking on Belief: Empowering Ambitions” and will continue to give customers opportunities to engage directly with specialists, ask questions and gain practical insights.
