The Ministry of Information, Communications and the Digital Economy has invited members of the public to submit their views on Kenya's draft Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Other Emerging Technologies Policy, giving stakeholders until 4 August 2026 to participate in the review process.
The draft policy seeks to establish a national framework to guide the development, deployment, governance and use of artificial intelligence and other emerging technologies in Kenya. According to the ministry, the policy is designed to promote innovation while ensuring AI is developed and used responsibly, ethically and securely.
In a public notice, the ministry encouraged citizens, technology companies, researchers, academic institutions, civil society organisations and other interested stakeholders to submit comments and recommendations before the deadline. Written submissions can be sent electronically or through the prescribed channels outlined by the ministry, while the full draft policy is available on its official website.
The proposed policy forms part of Kenya's broader digital transformation agenda and aims to strengthen the country's readiness for emerging technologies by promoting innovation, developing digital infrastructure, enhancing skills and establishing clear governance standards for AI adoption.
The public participation exercise is expected to help shape Kenya's final AI policy before it is adopted, ensuring the framework reflects the views of industry players, government agencies and the wider public. The ministry said feedback received during the consultation period will be considered as it finalises the policy.
