JSC commissioners pledge to ensure judiciary is transparent

Newly sworn in JSC commissioners have pledged to ensure the judiciary is independent, accountable and transparent in executing its mandate.

High court judge David Majanja and Lawyer Macharia Njeru also promised to work with fellow commissioners to root out corruption in the judiciary.

The High court and Law Society of Kenya representatives took the oath of office respectively at the Supreme Court under the watch of Chief justice David Maraga.

The two commissioners, High court judge David Majanja and Lawyer Macharia Njeru and who will be in office for the next five years vowed to push for institutional change that will guarantee a modernized judiciary.

The duo also committed to ensure justice and independence is served to all Kenyans by the judiciary.

On his part the chief justice reminded them of their duty to fortify the rule of law as guaranteed in the constitution.

Human rights lawyer and former IPOA Chairman Macharia Njeru was elected last week as the law society of Kenya male representative to the powerful judicial service commission and high court judge David Majanja was appointed to represent magistrates and judges in the commission.
