President Uhuru’s decision to crack the whip on rebels within the Jubilee party has received support from youth groups across the country.
In Nairobi, young leaders drawn from the Youth Senate leaders group said that the changes were long overdue.
Led by Human Rights crusader and politician Faith Lukosi, the leaders said that the changes will help streamline the President’s big four agenda.
She observed that the President needs people who understand his intentions for the country and the need to give the necessary political support.
” The President needs a faithful army around him and the changes are just but what many of us have been calling for,” Faith told journalists in Nairobi.
The President on Monday convened a Jubilee Party’s senators meeting where a decision was made to axe Majority leader Kipchumba Murkomen and Nakuru senator Susan Kihika from the majority whip position.
She added that the differences between the President and his Deputy William Ruto should not be allowed to derail the development agenda of the country.
” We had reached a level where the Deputy President was using his generals in the assembly and the senate to flex muscles in a selfish bid to safeguard his presidential ambitions,” She added.
The leaders also want Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko and the Nairobi Metropolitan Service boss Mohamed Badi to find a way of working together instead of engaging in battles aimed at sabotaging service delivery in the City.
” The is almost nothing happening in Nairobi and we are calling on the two to negotiate on how to work together because they all have a mandate to serve,”
The young leaders want the NMS to fastrack distribution of food to vulnerable residents in Nairobi.
They have partnered with various organizations and we’ll wishers to donate food to vulnerable groups in informal settlements as the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic continue hitting Kenyans so hard .
