This Ability Trust a charitable organization held is a three day digital marketing training in Nairobi from 25th to 27th September 2019 aimed at equipping young women and girls with disabilities with digital marketing skills in order to begin to utilize technology as a platform for increasing access to sexual and reproductive health rights and other economic opportunities.
This Ability Managing Director Lizzie Kiama said the training programme covered key aspects of internet, social media and mobile marketing and was facilitated through three main categories namely, introduction to digital marketing, social media and mobile marketing and last but not least analytics and business approach.
‘Technology provides an opportunity to reach more people even in remote areas so as to enable more women and girls with disabilities get access to sexual and reproductive health information than before’, Ms Kiama said.
Ms Kiama also offered that many women and girls living with disabilities have been facing challenges in the past when it came to matters pertaining to access to information on sexual and reproductive health rights hence the need for the training that she said will go a long way in equipping them when relevant information on the same on a touch of a button.
She further said that plans were at an advanced stage to come up with a mobile application tailored with specifics on the matter.

On her part, Lucy Nyawira a beneficiary of the trust offered that digital is the future adding that she had faced challenges in the past accessing crucial information on sexual and reproduction health owing to the fact she lives with albinism saying that that kind of training had helped her a great deal.
The coordinator of the training Mr Frank Okemwa reiterated Ms Kiama’s sentiments that it was time women and girls living with disabilities got the required skills on access to information on matters sexual and reproductive health without feeling discriminated.
This Ability Trust is a charitable organization that works to advance the rights and inclusion of women and girls in Kenya.
The training was under the Huu’wezo Project which is supported by the VOICE Program through HIVOS East Africa.
