In the prestigious Kajiado fields in Isinya, lies Kenya’s Top leading Poultry farm called the Tamaam Poultry Farm which is one of the biggest ventures that grows chicken for egg production.
Tamaam begun on March 2020, a year that was had hit by Pandemic (COVID-19) but despite the challenge the owners went ahead to invest their time, money and knowledge into the business.
The Farm lying on a 3 acre piece of land produces over 3000 trays of eggs a week from 1200 trays a week at the beginning, a milestone that has been achieved through several challenges.
Employing 14 people who work fulltime, Tamaam Poultry has managed to provide good quality products due to its protocol of maintaining high standards of hygiene and maximum care for the birds. It is a requirement that every individual or track is well sanitized or cleaned before accessing the farm so as to prevent disease transmission into the farm from the outside world.
Due to poor quality feeds from distributors the farm has taken a personal initiative of producing their own feeds where they get the raw materials required in food production and they mix them professionally as required so as to ensure the birds attain maximum vitamins, proteins and minerals for proper growth and good quality Eggs.
Speaking to director Hassan Abdikheir a director of the farm he advices that poultry farming demands total concentration where as a farmer you need to invest on time and knowledge so as to meet best quality standards.
“My background & experience is helpful in creating culture of quality at the farm
From grading to hygienically packing the eggs to Quality Control Documentation” Hussein said
Intrestingly the birds reared at the Tamaam Poultry Farm are the ISA BROWN Chickens sourced from Kenchick Kenya Limited which is one of the best chicken brands due to their abilities to produce big and brown eggs and the birds are usually well mannered human friendly, and they are considered intelligent when it comes to mastery of their laying stations, water points and food racks.
The Farm is well equipped with an automated water stystem which ensures the birds have access to water throughout and healthwise a vetinary doctor from Kenchick visits the farm for inspection and check up to the birds regularly a factor that sets Tamaam top of the best poultry farms.
