The Sonko Rescue Team, a non-profit organisation founded by Nairobi Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko, has been awarded a certificate of recognition for it exemplary role in community services, and outstanding contribution towards the realization of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The organisers singled out the SRT for their role alleviating poverty, provision of water and medical emergency services to the needy, while contributing immensely in conserving the environment.
“I wish to commend the great team that has built the Sonko Rescue Team over the years for their dedication to serve humanity. I want encourage other Kenyans to emulate this selfless team, and find little ways to make a difference in their communities, especially during this festive season,” added Governor Sonko.
The event organisers were drawn from the Government of Kenya, the NGO Council, the United Nations SDGs office, the Kenya Platform on Climate Governance (KPCG), among other Civil Society Organisations.
“We are truly humbled by this award, as it goes a long way to recognize the important role we play in the regulating the NGO sector that has for many years complemented the Government of Kenya in addressing many socioeconomic challenges faced by our people,” said Mr. Mutuma Nkanata, the CEO of the NGO Coordination Board, who was among the many other beneficiaries.
