Safaricom said its M-PESA wealth management service recorded 2.2 million active users and KSh21.1 billion in assets under management for the financial year that ended on March 31, 2026.

The data were published in the company’s FY2026 Sustainable Business Report, which focuses on its Kenyan operations.

The active-user count reflects customers classified as active under Safaricom’s reporting criteria, not the total number of individuals who may have ever accessed the service.

The assets under management figure measures the value of assets overseen through the wealth-management activity, and is separate from the volume or value of payments processed on the M-PESA network.

By placing the wealth-management numbers alongside other digital-financial-services metrics, the report situates the service within Safaricom’s wider financial-services portfolio, which already handles large transaction volumes.

Reporting both the user count and the asset value gives two distinct indicators of the service’s scale, showing both participation levels and the financial worth of managed assets.

Safaricom notes that the wealth-management offering expands M-PESA beyond routine payments, providing customers with an additional mobile-based channel for financial services.
