Safaricom has rolled out Family Share, a converged Home Fibre and mobile offering that lets customers share mobile data or minutes with up to five family members.

The entry-level plan costs KSh3,749 per month and provides 40 Mbps fibre speed together with 750 voice minutes and 14 GB of mobile data to be shared.

Two higher tiers – Silver at KSh5,100 (60 Mbps, 1,000 minutes, 21 GB) and Gold at KSh7,799 (150 Mbps, 1,500 minutes, 33 GB) – add speed, minutes and data, while the Diamond tier at KSh13,999 offers 500 Mbps with the same mobile allowance as Gold.

All four plans are billed on a single invoice, combining fixed-line and mobile charges, and can be subscribed to via My OneApp, by dialing *400#, or at Safaricom shops and authorised dealers.

Chief Consumer Business Officer Fawzia Ali said the plan is part of Safaricom’s Pata More initiative and aims to give customers greater value without added complexity.

Safaricom notes that active Fibre-to-the-Home customers have risen 27 per cent and the proportion of connected homes with active subscriptions has increased from 66.8 per cent to 71.0 per cent.

The launch comes as competition for home broadband intensifies from Zuku, Airtel, Faiba and satellite provider Starlink.
