Safaricom PLC has moved to clarify the structure of its Tunukiwa bundles after customers raised questions on X about the consistency of offers, noting that packages frequently shift in placement and availability.
The company explained that Tunukiwa is designed as a personalised, dynamic system that adjusts bundle options based on user behaviour, consumption patterns, and periodic system updates.
Safaricom’s clarification came in response to a post by a customer who complained that a regularly purchased package had been moved lower in the menu, making it harder to access quickly.
“Hello, we appreciate your feedback; however, the Tunukiwa offers are personalised, dynamic and keep changing from time to time,” said Safaricom in its official response on X.
The operator added that the model is intended to generate customised options for each subscriber, meaning that bundles may differ across users and change frequently depending on usage.
The Tunukiwa platform, accessible via *444# or the MySafaricom App, provides flexible offers across data, voice, airtime, and SMS services.
Examples of typical bundles include Ksh 50 for 1.5GB valid for three hours, Ksh 39 for 150MB PUBG plus free 150MB valid for 24 hours, Ksh 100 for 2GB plus free Google Maps access valid for 24 hours, Ksh 1,000 for 15GB valid for 30 days, and voice packages such as Ksh 20 for 45 minutes valid for three hours.
These offers are generated dynamically and vary depending on real‑time user activity and network analytics. Safaricom noted that Tunukiwa operates alongside its broader bundle ecosystem, which features daily, weekly, and monthly plans available through *544# and the MySafaricom App.
These include no‑expiry data bundles, all‑in‑one packages combining data, voice, and SMS, and promotional additions such as free WhatsApp access. Recent updates to the wider bundle structure have expanded allocations in selected plans, offering more data, minutes, and SMS validity options.
By positioning Tunukiwa as a complement to standard bundles, Safaricom aims to deliver personalised value while maintaining flexibility in its broader product portfolio. The company maintains that the dynamic nature of Tunukiwa is central to its design, reflecting a shift toward usage‑based models in Kenya’s competitive telecom market.
