The market for mid-range and low-end smartphones is getting new entrants every day and finding the right smartphone for your budget in Kenya can be a little bit tricky, especially when there are so many expensive contracts to sift through.
In emerging markets like Kenya, these phones are gaining popularity due to their pricing and performance. The latest entrant in the market is the Realme C11.
One fact about RealMe C11 is that the phone is are tailor-made for both low and middle income earners with as little as Ksh. 9,999 you can get one at Local retail shops.
The smartphone offers sturdy build quality and is a battery beast the phone also offers smooth performance and user experience.
Realme C11 design
As far as budget phones go, I think the Realme C11 looks quite good. It has a lot in common with other budget Realme phones, and as usual, you wouldn’t easily be able to tell them apart looking at them from the front.
The screen takes up nearly the entire face of the phone, but there’s a fairly thick chin and a waterdrop notch at the top. My review unit had a pre-applied adhesive scratch protector that didn’t quite reach the corners of the screen.
You have a choice between Rich Green and Rich Grey, which are both muted and neutral enough to suit everyone.
Up front, the Realme C11 sports a 6.5-inch Mini-drop display with HD+ resolution. It’s a pretty standard screen, one we’ve seen several times on Realme phones in this segment in the past. The display offers adequate brightness levels indoors.
The display quality is decent for its price and we cannot complain about it too much. With a standard 720p resolution, picture quality is about average. The phone does not support Widevine L1, so content on Netflix and Prime Video will be in standard definition.
Realme C11 performance and battery life
Performance The Realme C11 is powered by an octa-core MediaTe Helio G35 processor with IMG PowerVR GE8320 GPU. The smartphone packs 2GB of RAM and 32GB internal storage which can be expanded up to 256GB by adding a microSD card.
Battery life is excellent. The low-end processor, coupled with the 5000mAh battery, delivered a phenomenal 28 hours, 25 minutes in our HD video loop battery test. With everyday usage, involving a lot of audio and video streaming, some camera use, and a little gaming, I was able to make the C11 last a day and a half before needing to plug it in to charge.
With normal day-to-day usage that involves messages, social media browsing and occasional videos on YouTube, the phone took me through a day and a half.
Even on days where you I found myself gaming and consuming a lot of media content, the phone dint up easily.
1 hour of content on Netflix or YouTube drains the battery only by around 5 percent.
I was able to average 9-10 hours of screen on time, which is pretty great. The phone comes with 10W charger in the box that can fully charge the Realme C11 in about three hours.
Camera
The Realme C11 gets a 13MP primary camera accompanied by a 2MP depth sensor, which is a pretty standard setup for a budget smartphone.
It’s only marginally better on paper compared to the Realme C3’s 12MP dual camera setup. For an entry-level smartphone, the Realme C11 does well in capturing attractive daylight photos. Colours look rich and vibrant and there’s a good amount of detail and contrast as well.
The phones are set be unveiled to the Kenyan Market tomorrow 25th August through Livestream launch at 11.00am
