The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has urged all motorists to ensure safety of children as schools reopen.
In a statement Monday, NTSA warned that the back to school season has in the past recorded violations leading to both fatal and serious injuries.
“The back to school season in the previous years has recorded violations leading to both fatal and serious injuries among school children and it is the responsibility of motorists to prevent these unfortunate incidences,” the statement read
The authority also urged parents to use safe modes of transport to ferry children to and from school saying only compliant and roadworthy vehicles should be used.
NTSA further advised parents to make use of the NTSA Mobile App available on Play store to verify roadworthy vehicles by capturing the registration number.
“We call upon all drivers and Boda Boda riders operating within school zones to adhere to the 30kph speed limit in line with the requirement of the law.”
