MultiChoice Kenya announced on Monday that from November 5 its DStv service will be offered in four packages priced between KSh750 and KSh7,300 per month.

The new Starter package will cost KSh750 and include up to 116 channels such as local Kenyan channels, telenovelas, Zee World, children’s programming, LaLiga and a Match of the Week, plus a new SuperSport KICKOFF channel.

The Select tier will be priced at KSh1,500 and provide more than 149 channels covering news, movies, series and Serie A.

The Sports package will cost KSh3,000 and deliver Premier League, Champions League, Europa League, Conference League, WWE, UFC and over 159 channels, as the first package to carry every Premier League match, and will introduce the first Swahili SuperSport channel.

The Ultimate tier will be priced at KSh7,300, offering up to 180 channels including Formula 1, MotoGP, cricket, rugby, ATP tennis and major golf tournaments.

The price of the top Ultimate tier is KSh4,400 lower than the KSh11,700 previously charged for the Premium package, and the Sports price is KSh1,200 lower than the KSh4,200 charged for Premier League coverage in September.

The same packages and prices will be available on the DStv Stream app.

MultiChoice also reduced GOtv prices, introducing Easy at KSh300 and cutting the top GOtv package to KSh3,000 from KSh3,199.

From November 5 customers can buy an HD decoder and satellite dish for KSh1,500 with a KSh500 installation fee.

Nzola Miranda, chief executive of MultiChoice Kenya, said the overhaul marks a defining moment in the company’s 30-year journey in Kenya and reflects changing consumer needs.

Nomsa Philiso, executive vice-president of content at Canal+ Africa, said Canal+ is investing in African storytelling through increased production and global distribution.

Subscriber data show MultiChoice’s decoder base fell from 270,503 at the end of 2025 to 248,053 by the end of March, an 8.3 per cent drop, while the Communications Authority reported DStv subscriptions at 259,047, 37.2 per cent above a year earlier but the overall market slipped 1.8 per cent to 1.55 million.

The company also lost more than 57,000 DStv and GOtv subscribers in the first half of 2026, leaving a combined base of 653,066.

Canal+ took effective control of MultiChoice in September 2025 and has moved SuperSport rights decisions to Paris, while retaining Premier League rights across Africa until 2028 and Champions League rights until 2027.
