Kirumba Mukuria emerged the winner in the ninth round of the Jonnie Walker series at Nakuru Golf Club over the weekend.
The home player fired 40 stableford points to beat a large field of over 150 players who turned up for the event.
Men’s runner up with a score of 39 was Prakash Shah. He trailed the winner with a solitary point. John Kimuyu carded 39 points to finish third overall. Guest winner with a score of 38 was Muchiri M.
The Johnnie Walker Golf Series, which was started five years ago, is aimed and helping local professionals grow their skills and hone their talent to play in international events such as the Kenya Open and the European Tour.
The series kicked off at the Royal Golf club on the 2nd of November 2019 with the finals slated for 7th March 2020 at the Vet Lab Golf club. East Africa Breweries Limited, through its Johnnie Walker brand will award the finals winner a direct entry into the Magical Kenya Open set to place in March 2020.Â
East Africa Breweries Limited Key Account Manager Kenneth Murage said the series was geared towards whipping up the enthusiasm of amateur golfers in the country as well as growing of the sport of golf.
