The entire independent directors of the board of the Kenya Power & Lighting Company PLC resigned Monday.
According to sources, the board resigned owing to frustration in the work environment.
“The board resigned out of frustration, problem with tariffs, failure by GOK to adjust the tariffs and failure to allow balance sheet restructure”, stated a source who did not wish to be named.
KPLC through a statement thanked the five, Mr Adil Khawaja, Mr Kairo Thuo, Mr Wilson Kimutai Mugung’ei, Mrs Brenda Kokoi and Hon Zipporah Kering for “their commitment and dedicated service and wishes them the best in their future endeavors.”
The utility firm’s Board of Directors consists of a minimum of seven and a maximum of 10 directors. It consists of a balance of executive and non-executive Directors including independent and non-executive Directors.
