Female members of Kericho County Assembly have recorded a statement with police over alleged harassment.
The MCAs accused their male colleagues of sexual harassment during a two-day induction workshop at Ciala Resort in Kisumu.
In a statement read to the press at the assembly by Fancy Korir (Nominated MCA), the ward representatives were appalled by the use of vulgar language.
Korir in particular singled out one of the members for spewing sexist remarks which she termed as demeaning and an insult to the entire women leadership.
The county reps who reported the incident to Kericho police station appealed to the Federation of Women Lawyers in Kenya FIDA-Kenya to take up the matter.
While demanding respect, Anita Byegon, the only elected MCA in the county protested sexual slurs directed at her nominated colleagues perceived to have been handed the slots because of sexual favours.
“Nominated MCAs are not being favoured, they are qualified for positions just like the men and should be respected,” she said.
She was flanked by Edna Tonui, a nominated member.
