Disgruntled by the sky rocketing corruption allegations at the Coast Water Service Board, Kenyans overwhelmingly took to the social media to demand for the immediate sacking of the embattled CEO Jacob Torrut.
Trending as number one on twitter under the hashtag # CorruptCoastWater, Mr. Torrut was accused for overseeing a crumbling water agency, engaging in undercarpet corruption schemes and intimidating workers who stand on the way of his unpopular decisions.
He was accused for working in cahoots with top officers at the ministry of water and compromised officials from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission in overseeing execution of massive and unprecedented irregularities at the water agency.
Among the issues the embattled CEO is battling, is the allegation on his decision he made as the Chief Executive Officer to controversially award an overdraft of Sh 11,276,411 from the water service account number 1107641179 at KCB treasury square Mombasa branch to a contracted company in a calculated kickback plan.
When he was confronted by these allegations, Torrut is said to have told friends that he enjoys unrivalled protection from the water ministry and investigative agencies.
Mr Torrut is yet to clear his name in the inhumane and unprocedural manner he fired Human Resource Manager one Mr. Charo, a move insiders says was aimed at hiding his appointment file.
Still on labour related issues at the crisis riddled water agency,Mr Torrut in his unilateral efforts to weed off employees who stood against his leadership style, unlawfully terminated the contract of one Lilian Chari. He would later be sued under criminal case number 447 of 2017 and ordered to pay Sh 500,000 an amount he has allegedly been playing hide and seek to pay.
Torrut would later surge on again to fire Finance Manager Harriet Ngera who according to reports vehemently opposed some of the financial decisions he proposed.
