Kenyan entrepreneurs from across all sectors have been encouraged to apply for the next round of the $10 million (Sh 1.04 billion) African Netrepreneur Prize Initiative (ANPI) which wrapped up its semi-final round over the weekend in Nairobi.
Twenty ANPI semi-finalists pitched their ideas to seven judges at Nailab, the ICT startup incubator, hoping to be among the 10 finalists in the finals to be held in Accra, Ghana in October.
The winner will get a $250,000 (Sh 25.8 million) prize, with the first and second runners up getting $150,000 (Sh15.5 million) and $100,000 (Sh 10.3 million) respectively.
Financed by the Jack Ma Foundation, through a donation from the billionaire philanthropist, ANPI will be developed into a television show called “Africa’s Business Heroes” to run over the 10-year programme. ANPI is funded by the Jack Ma Foundation in partnership with Nailab.
