Kenya Electricity Generating Company (KenGen) is looking for consultants to join the company’s Geothermal Board of Consultants.
“To realize its ambitious geothermal expansion program, KenGen wishes to constitute a Board of Consultants (BOC) by engaging four international experts (herein referred to as bidders) in the following requisite disciplines; Field Exploration and Development, Drilling Technology, Environmental Management, Reservoir Management, Power Plant Management,” the firm’s advert read in part.
The company added, “a local expert will, however, serve in any of the five specified disciplines.”
The company is on an ambitious plan to add more geothermal power plants with a capacity of up to 682 megawatts (MW) in the next four years, setting the stage for cheaper electricity.
The scope of work the experts who must have more than 20 years will undertake include, independently evaluate and advise on the best field exploration and development practices, participate in the development and interpretation of conceptual models of geothermal fields, review, interpret and advise on efficient and effective power plant management practices to be adopted to improve power plant performance and longevity among others.
