East Africa’s biggest electric energy producer Kenya Electricity Generating Company (KenGen) on Tuesday launched a youth initiative.
“Yesterday marked a special day at KenGen with the official launch of the company’s Y-Gen programme. Y-Gen is a KenGen initiative that seeks to nurture young employees to prosperity in all facets of their life,” KenGen wrote in a brief statement on their social media pages.
“As KenGen begins its journey into the rest of the continent, those within the Y-Gen bracket are truly the carriers and implementers of the Company’s global aspirations. The youth will be some of the key beneficiaries when KenGen meets its objectives of value creation, competitively-priced electricity, and increased generation capacity to boost and drive national development”
KenGen MD & CEO Rebecca Miano
KenGen has been at the forefront of supporting and nurturing women through the Pink Energy initiative; now it has added the youth to that supportive workplace culture.
The company has a better working environment for women including facilities like a fully and properly equipped mothers’ room.
In 2018, KenGen was named among the best employers in Kenya.
