A Nairobi nominated MCA has lost her seat after consecutively missing plenary sittings for two years.
Habiba Ibrahim Husein was nominated by Jubilee Party in 2017 but has never set foot in the county assembly since then.
Nairobi county Speaker Beatrice Elachi declared Habiba’s seat vacant on Tuesday, March 10.
“I hereby declare the seat of Habiba Hussein vacant. The Secretary-General of the Jubilee Party is aware of the position,” announced the Speaker.
The Powers and Privileges committee that investigated her case established Habiba only took oath of office and went left for good
Nairobi county assembly now has 121 MCAs, 65 from the ruling Jubilee Party and 56 from the Opposition wing
