The International Trade Centre (ITC) is providing support 15 women-owned businesses from Kenya producing avocado, beans and peas to attend this week’s Asia Fruit Logistica event taking place Hong Kong.
All companies are part of ITC’s SheTrades Initiative and have received support to attend the event under the SheTrades in the Commonwealth project, funded by the United Kingdom’s Department for International Development (DFID.
Ahead of travelling to Hong Kong, the companies received training issues such as export quality management, global trends and global production in horticulture and how to export fresh horticulture products to the Asian market
According to ITC’s export potential map, Kenyan horticulture products have an untapped export potential of $309 million per year in the Asian Market. The SheTrades delegation aims to tap this potential by opening new business opportunities during Asia Fruit Logistica.
