Multinational consultancy firm IPE Global has shut down operations in Kenya.
The company fired most of its staff in late 2019 and mid 2020 due to monetary constraints.
Sources indicate that ongoing projects are being undertaken by a skeleton staff mostly comprised of expatriates from India (headquarters and United Kingdom.
Speaking to Kenyanbusinessfeed.com, a former staff said that most of them were let go around July 2020.

“Covid-19 situation made it harder for the company to retain staff since there was a hiatus in the international development market. Most donors weren’t advertising tenders. The problem was further exacerbated by an earlier strategy for Africa which preferred leaner staff. I think we had to go”, said the source.
KBF learnt that furniture and electronics have been cleared from the firm’s office at Mirage Towers.
Reorganization
In July, IPE Director Nikos Papachristodoulou told Kenyanbusinessfeed.com that the company was not shutting down operations but instead was reorganising.
“While it’s correct we are re-organizing our business in Kenya, we have no plans of ceasing operation in the country”, he said.
On firing all Kenyan staff, KBF has learnt that most of those were actually declared redundant in the various departments.
IPE Global is a huge consultancy firm with offices all over Asia. Its overseas offices are in London and Addis Ababa. There’s also a project office in Kigali, Rwanda.
The firm has undertaken many key projects in Africa, Asia and Europe for big donors such as DFID, USAID and World Bank.
