Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has dismissed reports that he met Deputy President William Ruto in Karen.
The govenor has termed as malicious and misleading the story linking his current tussle with some state officers in the interior Ministry to the current stand off on the Deed of Transfer of Functions.
According to Sonko, the reports are part of the wider scheme by some state officers to put him at crossroads with President Uhuru Kenyatta, whom he says had good intentions when initiatiating the deal.
“ The President and l had good intentions of ensuring continued service delivery in the capital city but some people want to ride on the deal for their own selfish gains,” Sonko said.
The govenor has also insinuated that some senior officers in the interior ministry are hell-bent on manipulating the newly created Nairobi Metropolitan Service ( NMS) with the intention on swindling public funds.
” They have seen this as an opportunity to infiltrate the system and loot public resources but we are not going to allow that to happen,” he added.
He has called on leaders in Nairobi to be careful and not to blindly follow instructions from State officers who have strange intentions not related to service delivery.
Sonko insists that he will continue spearheading service delivery in the capital because he has a mandate from over 800,000 residents who woke up to vote him in.
” I remain the governor and that will remain so in our laws and they can’t change that ,”
