The appointment of Major General Mohamed Abdalla Abdi to head the Nairobi Metropolis Service as the Director General has left Nairobi cartels in limbo.
The cartels, sources say, had expected President Uhuru to appoint a friendly political figure to the position, only for the President to appoint a soldier from the army.
With Sonko having played hard on them, their hopes were high on a soft landing from the head of the state.
Some of those left grinding their teeth according to our sources include nominated MP Maina Kamanda, former Dagoreti South MP Dennis Waweru and key Mt Kenya cartels who were fronting former Gatanga MP Peter Kenneth.
Governor Mike Sonko, who many thought will feel humiliated by the move, has hailed the appointment of Major Abdalla and his deputy Enosh Onyango.
” It is a good move and l am on record saying that there is need for the national governmemt to intervene and help crash cartels out of City Hall,”
Another one is speaker Beatrice Beatrace and her Cartel who had banked on the podsibiy of Nairobi County Government being disbanded or an impeachment to have a say in county affairs.
The events that have been happening at the Finance department where ousted Pauline Kahiga and refused to cede pow ers to Allan Igambi was delt a major blow as well when the Solicitor General Kennedy Ogeto and Attorney General ordered the Central Bank to recognize Igambi as the legitimate signatory to the county accounts.
This is a major win to Sonko, confirming that he still has powers to hire and fire.
