Himel, a Spanish low-voltage electrical manufacturer, has provided equipment for five projects under Kenya’s Affordable Housing Programme, covering 4,657 housing units and 104 retail shops.

The supplied items include miniature circuit breakers, consumer units, moulded-case circuit breakers and other power-distribution gear designed for safe electricity delivery.

At the Kenya Leadership Connect 2026 conference, themed “Powering Kenya Together”, Himel showcased its expanding role in the country’s construction and infrastructure sectors.

Vice President for International Sales Koon San Ang said Kenya’s investment in housing, commercial, industrial and energy projects creates opportunities for the firm to broaden its market contribution.

“Kenya continues to be one of the most dynamic and promising markets in East Africa. Himel intended to support the country’s development with an integrated range of products covering power distribution, automation, energy management, electric vehicle charging and smart building technologies,” Ang stated.

Since entering Kenya in 2021 with wiring devices, Himel has added new wiring products, industrial drives, electric-vehicle chargers, smart relays, solar drives and automatic transfer switches to its catalogue.

The company is partnering with local distributor Nabico Enterprises Limited to widen product access and deliver technical support across the nation.

Nabico Enterprises director Biren Shah explained that Kenya’s rapid growth in housing, commercial infrastructure, energy and industry demands suppliers that balance quality with value.

“Kenya’s rapid development across housing, commercial infrastructure, energy, and industrial sectors requires partners that can deliver both quality and value,” Shah said.

Nabico, a family-owned business founded in 1989, evolved from bicycle sales to become a supplier of electrical solutions for residential, commercial and industrial projects.

Himel, founded in Spain in 1958, now operates in more than 60 countries and offers a portfolio of over 32,000 stock-keeping units.

The firm plans to deepen its Kenyan investment through new technologies, local partnerships and ongoing technical assistance as the country expands its residential, commercial and industrial infrastructure.
