Real estate developer, Superior Homes Kenya has injected Sh15 million to its Greenpark Estate in Athi River to wade off floods.
This move comes after the developer sought to reassure its clientele that Greenpark Estate whose previous wall collapsed after being hit by floods, is now secure and all houses sitting in the posh estate in Athi River ready for use.
Yvonne Ondego, Superior Homes Kenya Project Manager, said that that the wall along Athi River set back the company a whopping 15 million to put it up.
She explained that the materials used in putting up the wall were of high quality and that the more than 350 meter long wall will not come down no matter how hard the water currents from the nearby Stoni Athi River will hit it if at all flooding ever occurred again.
She further explained that what happened before was all about an unavoidable natural process but with the wall now up, the problem was solved.
Ms Ondego also disclosed that Superior Homes Kenya is coming up with other semi detached 10 units.
Ondego maintained that Greenpark Estate does not sit on riparian land as many a media house had earlier reported.
In 2019, Hight court ruled that houses belonging to Superior Homes in Athi River, Machakos County, were not built on riparian land.
The Environment and Land Court set aside an order by Water Resource Management Authority (Warma) seeking to demolish part of Greenpark Estate over claims they sat on riparian land.
High Court Judge Oscar Angote of Environment and Land Court ruled then that seven houses that are in the Greenpark estate are not built on reserve as had been claimed by the agency.
‘I restrain Warma from demolishing or interfering with the high-end estate, built by Superior Homes in Athi River,’ Angote ruled then.
The judge at the same time allowed Superior Homes to reconstruct its collapsed perimeter wall.
The company’s Chief Executive Officer Shiv Arora also disclosed that they are soon moving into counties where they will put up affordable units in gated communities.
‘Greenpark Estate has taken time to mature to what it is today. We will be moving to counties now to come up with affordable units that will cost as low as Sh10m,’ Arora said.
Arora further said that the company sees a lot of opportunities in the middle class and going forward, the company will focus on that.
He oozed confidence that despite Covid-19 pandemic hitting the country hard leading to an economic slump last year, the year 2021 looks good and that the economy will grow, a move he says they will endeavor to tap into.
Apart from the Greenpark Estate along Mombasa Road, Superior Homes Kenya Arora says, is working on projects like Pazuri Vipingo which is located by the Indian Ocean around 30 kilometres north of Mombasa.
Adjacent to Vipingo Ridge with its famous golf course and other leisure amenities, Pazuri Vipingo will have 374 houses together with a full range of amenities on completion.
Arora also said Superior Homes plans to diversify into hospitality and leisure by offering holidays at its three sites while continuing to develop beautiful houses within outstanding environments.
