Glovo Kenya has named Priscilla Muhiu as the new General Manager. Priscilla succeeds William Benthall who is now the new General Manager for Sub-Saharan Africa.
“I am delighted to be taking over from William… I’m looking forward to continuing the good work that we have done here with Glovo, in a market that is very vibrant and full of promising prospects.” Priscilla said while accepting the appointment.
As the new General Manager, she will lead strategy, coordinating the subsidiary’s business plan to achieve the overall objective of Glovo Kenya. She will also be in charge of developing the companies Kenya business plan and identifying and exploring new growth opportunities.
Prior to the appointment, she was the company’s Head of Marketing for Africa. She successfully launched the brand in Kenya and Ivory Coast.
She was also the Head of Marketing at Sendy, spearheading the development of new markets through consumer insights, financial data, and analytics.
She also led marketing and development in East Africa for OLX now JIJI for more than 6 years.
“Following 13 years in business development and marketing — nine of which have been spent working specifically with tech companies; Ms. Muhiu has a wealth of industry knowledge in the field of growth, market strategy development and business modelling. She is also very passionate about solving problems in Africa through the use of innovative technologies,” read the statement.
Glovo has presence in Kenya’s major hub’s like Nairobi and Mombasa. The app is available on Android and iOS where it can be used to things from beauty and health, to food.
Muhiu takes the helm at a time when the delivery business is booming due to the change in consumer behavior driven by COVID-19. Glovo Kenya recently reported an increase in delivery, which rose by 30pc.
